Higher Education Commission conducted Institutional Performance Evaluation and Post Graduate Programs review of Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Karachi from 14th to 16th January, 2020.

The visit was conducted by two teams comprising the following members:

IPE TEAM

  • Dr. Jawad Ahmed, Khyber Medical University, Peshawar
  • Dr. Nakhshab Chaudhary, King Edward Medical University, Lahore
  • Dr. Abdul Rauf Khaskheli, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana

PROGRAM REVIEW TEAM

  • Dr. Muhammad Arif Khattak, Bahria University, Islamabad
  • Dr. Mudassir A. Khan, Khyber Medical University, Peshawar
  • Dr. Muhammad Ovais Omer, UVAS Lahore

Dr Nadia Tahir, MD, QAA-HEC also joined the session.

The IPE team reviewed the performance of JSMU against the IPE standards prescribed by the HEC whereas the PR team reviewed all MS/MPhil and equivalent programs against the HEC criteria prescribed for Post Graduate programs.

Prof. Dr. Tariq Rafi, the Vice Chancellor, JSMU presided the opening and closing meetings and appreciated the efforts of QEC to organize the visit successfully.

Dr. Abdul Wahid Usmani, Director QEC led the visit presenting the JSMU existing practices and accomplishments achieved so far including the formalization of standardized university policies, SOPs, organogram, KPIs based performance evaluation, JDs of key officials, TORs of university wide committees etc.

The HEC Teams reviewed institutional reports and Program review documents along with the available evidences, validated the same during the interaction with deans, Registrar, institutional & support department heads, faculty from Professors to Lecturers and students of all levels. They also had the field visit to significate university facilities including labs, library, classrooms, faculty offices, dental OPD, support departments etc.

Closing meeting was done on third day in which the team shared their observations and recommendations for further improvement in the existing system. The Vice Chancellor, thanked the team for their valuable input and assured them for the compliance.

In the end, souvenirs were distributed to the reviewers.
